BSE to allow gold bonds in demat form on its platform: MD & CEO

You may soon get to buy government-approved gold bonds in dematerialised form from the BSE platform.

Plans are afoot to offer gold bonds in an initial public offering format on the BSE platform whenever the next round of bond sales are undertaken by the Centre/RBI, Ashish Chauhan, MD & CEO, BSE, told BusinessLine.

Minimum 2 grams, max 500

“This will happen through our broker members. An individual can place orders up to 500 grams of gold bonds through the IPO in a financial year. This is quite a sizeable quantity on offer. Minimum quantity of order will be two grams,” Chauhan said. The government-approved gold bonds are being issued in denominations of one gram of gold and in multiples thereof.
